(Svelte) Raku Vase

€215.00

This handmade vase, fired in the Japanese raku tradition, is a true show-stopper. This type of raku firing involves using horse hair pressed against the raging hot piece immediately after it is pulled from a 1000°C kiln. The hair burns and twists, leaving behind the carbon on the surface of the piece. The result, like forks of lighting, is magic every time.

Materials and care:
This product is made from a high-quality stoneware. It is not food safe, nor safe for use in a microwave or dishwasher. Note that the vase is not watertight due to this firing technique, so it is best to use as an accent in your home, or for dried flowers. If you prefer to use cut flowers, place a liner or smaller vessel inside the vase to hold the water and protect the surface under the vase.
